How to get your new Nubian Goat from Sandhill Oaks

Your best option remains to pick your new goat up from our farm located in Central Florida near Mount Dora. We arrange pick up by appointment and pride ourselves in being highly communicative through the process to help you feel comfortable. While here, you can view the herd and see for yourself their health and quality. You will be given an opportunity to examine your new goat and ask questions about their condition and care.

Please understand that for biosecurity reasons, no visitors are allowed in the pastures or barn area and please do not bring any treats or other food items with you. We will happily provide you with some Animal Crackers to pamper the herd!

Working with transport

We are happy to do our best to work with transport. For anything longer than a few days, we recommend considering shipping by air. We can ship out of Orlando International with direct flights to many destinations. It is very important to note though, that airlines require ground temperatures to remain below 85 degrees at the origin, any connections, and at the destination. Since we are in Florida, this means that we often cannot ship by air during the months of May through October. The best age to ship a goat is between 3 and 5 weeks of age, and shipping two at a time is preferred over one.

For ground transport, we have several shippers that we know provide an excellent service out of Florida. Some shippers will not enter the state due to the regulation at the Agricultural Inspection Station, so this is important to be aware of.

Important notes:

We are absolutely willing and happy to try to work with ground transport. Please note, however, that the main goat caretaker, Jenn, works a full time job in the medical field and her job has nearly no flexibility. This also means that she needs to be awake, alert, and on-time for her job. She cannot be waiting out in the middle of the night for a shipper who is stuck in traffic for hours on a work night. She fully understands and sympathizes with the difficult job that shippers perform, but must also protect herself and the lives she safeguards at her work. As we work together to determine options for transportation of goats, this reality must be understood and we reserve the right to cancel any sale where the buyer is not willing to help us work around job schedules. Your understanding is sincerely appreciated.

All costs associated with shipping, including crates, supplies, Certificates of Veterinary Inspection, direct costs from the airline or ground transport, are the responsibility of the buyer. We will procure crates and shipping related equipment for the buyer and must receive reimbursement before we will ship the goat. It is the buyers responsibility to arrange ground transport and pay for all associated costs. We reserve the right to refuse to work with any shipper who does not meet our standards for cleanliness, care, and communication through the process. If we cannot complete the shipment of a goat, and no other options exist, we will refund the purchase price of the goat and of the crate or supplies purchased but WILL NOT provide any repayment for the cost paid to the shipper. Do your homework on the shipper and be sure they are reputable and well regarded.
